Shirley Jean Stover Hancock

Shirley Jean Stover Hancock, age 79, of Henderson, KY, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, March 23, 2025, under the care of her nieces and St. Anthony’s Hospice. Shirley was born in Henderson, KY on February 5, 1946. She was a member of Beals Pentecostal Church. Shirley worked at O’Daniels Flower Shop as a designer of flowers for 15 years. She later worked at Personal Safety Equipment until she decided to leave that position to care for her nieces and nephews. Shirley thoroughly enjoyed being a part of the Prison and Jail Ministry with her late husband Don. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents Cody and Essie Stover, her husband Don Lemon, son Jeffrey Snow, brother Bill Stover, and her brother-in-law Clarence LaRue. Shirley is survived by her sister Joyce LaRue of Henderson, KY; brother Kenneth Stover (Gloria) of Henderson, KY; sister-in-law Betty Stover of South Carolina; and grandsons Jeffery Brown and Cody Brown; nieces: Lisa Fuller (Kim) of Henderson, KY, Teresa LaRue of Henderson, KY, Kathy Belt (Rodney) of Henderson, KY, Heather Harwood (Scott ) of Evansville, IN, Paula Stover of South Carolina, and Allison Leard (James) of South Carolina; nephews: Greg LaRue (Amy) of Henderson, KY and Benjamin Stover of Henderson, KY; special great-nephews: Kyle Fuller (Lily), Cory Belt, Brendan Belt, and Adam LaRue; special great-nieces: Kelli Ewing (Ricky), Katie Baugh (John), and Leslie Powell (William); a special cousin dear to her heart Janice Hawkins Johnson; several other nieces and nephews. Her great-great-nieces and nephews gave her a special name “Shirbaby”. Relatives and friends are invited to Shirley’s Life Celebration from 10:00 a.m. until the service time on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, at Benton-Glunt & Tapp Funeral Home in Henderson, KY. The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home with Reverend Barry Skaggs officiating. Burial will follow at Baskett Cemetery in Baskett, KY. Pallbearers will be her grandson and great-nephews: Jeffery Brown, Kyle Fuller, Adam LaRue, Cory Belt, Brendan Belt, and Jacob Snow. Honorary pallbearers will be: Greg LaRue, Ben Stover, Cody Brown, Rodney Belt, Ian Michael Snow, Brian Snow, and Ronnie Skaggs.
