Ronald Joseph Wathen

Ronald Joseph Wathen, age 61, of Henderson, KY, passed away at 3:00 PM, Monday, April 20, 2015, at Methodist Hospital. Ron was born in 1953, in Owensboro, KY, to J.A. “Tony” and Mae Wathen. The family moved to Henderson when he was a young boy and his father started Wathen Accounting Firm. He attended Holy Name of Jesus Catholic School where he met Linda. Ron knew right away that she was the love of his life, but it took her a little longer to figure that out. He then went on to graduate from the University of Evansville with a degree in Accounting. Ron attained his CPA designation and worked in Louisville with the accounting firm Touche Ross before returning home and taking over his father’s accounting business. Ron was involved in numerous groups over the years and contributed much to the community of Henderson. He was member of Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church and served on the Pastoral Counsel. He was active with the American Red Cross and was chairman, he did fundraising and Disaster Relief. Ron started Henderson Kiwanis Club, BNI, and Henderson Brand Builders. Ron enjoyed listening to Johnny Cash, playing golf, wood working and working in his yard. Most of all, he loved his family. Ron was preceded in death by his father J.A. “Tony” Wathen. Survivors include: Loving wife of 41 years: Linda C. Wathen 1 Son: Jamison R. Wathen Seattle, WA 3 Daughters: Abbie Wathen and husband Robert Petty Brighten, CO Jessica Knepp and husband Keith Corydon, KY Catherine Klein and husband Jeremy Niagara, KY Mother: Mae Ella Wathen 1 Brother: Martin and wife Mary 1 Sister: Denise All of the Tampa, FL area 5 Grandchildren: Anthony, Kaitlyn, Evan, Brayden and Kendall Relatives and friends are invited to Ron’s Life Celebration from 2:00- 8:00 PM Thursday and again on Friday starting at 9:00 AM at Benton-Glunt Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church, Henderson, KY. Burial will follow at St. Louis Cemetery in Henderson, KY.
