Phyllis Faye Carr

On Friday, March 8th, 2024, Phyllis Faye Carr; loving wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away at the age of 88 in Evansville, IN. Born April 6th, 1935, in Elkins, WV, to Riley and Georgie (Harper) Carr. Phyllis spent many years touching hearts in the food service department for the school district of Henderson County, KY. She was married for 49 years to her husband Don Carr, and raised their two children, Myra (Carr) Blair and Don Carr, Jr., and her grandson, Bill Blair. Phyllis was a proud member of both the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Order of the Eastern Star. Phyllis was a positive, outgoing, people-person who “never met a stranger.” She endlessly supported and encouraged her children and grandchildren in all of their endeavors. She loved attending live music shows and concerts, especially seeing her son playing with the Oak Ridge Boys. She was an avid churchgoer and regularly attended Bennett Memorial United Methodist church in Henderson, KY. Phyllis was the family matriarch and loved to travel to reunite with extended family; sharing stories with them and bringing stories back to share with her local family. She greeted everyone with her beautiful smile and spread joy with her infectious laugh, two of her many wonderful qualities that will not be forgotten. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Donald Carr, and her brothers: Jack, Phillip (Bruce), and Don Carr. Phyllis is survived by her daughter, Myra (Carr) Blair of Henderson, KY; son, Don Carr, Jr., of Ft. Wayne, IN; sister, Jo Ellen Wilson of Chicago, IL; grandchildren, Bill Blair, Dillan Carr and Riley Carr; and her two great-grandchildren, Harper and Hope Blair. Relatives and friends are invited to Phyllis’ Life Celebration from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Friday, and again on Saturday starting at 12:00 p.m. at Benton-Glunt & Tapp Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 16, 2024, at Benton-Glunt & Tapp Funeral Home in Henderson, KY with Reverend Dale Carden officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Henderson, KY. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Henderson Area Arts Alliance: 2660 S.
