Nina Delois "Viney" Phillips

Nina Delois “Viney” Phillips, age 84, of Henderson, KY, passed away at 12:40 AM, Saturday, September 17, 2016, at Lucy Smith King Care Center under the care of St. Anthony’s Hospice. Viney was born in Robards, KY in 1931. She was one of 13 siblings. Her father was a farmer on their family farm, her mother was a homemaker. After high school she married Charles R. Brown. Viney worked for 18 years at J.J. Newberry’s Five and Dime store. She then worked for Ohio Valley Bank in the loan department. During her time at the bank she received her Real Estate Broker’s License and worked with her husband at Charles R. Brown Real Estate. After the loss of her first husband, Viney married Johnnie B. Phillips and they moved to Owensboro, KY. There she worked at Owensboro- Smith Florist. They moved back to Henderson and she helped start T-P Flowers and Gifts. Most recently Viney worked as a Business Assistant for Dr. Morton’s Dental Office. She was a member of Bennett Memorial United Methodist Church for many years and a charter member of Chapel Hill United Methodist Church. Viney was always caring for her family and her friends. Viney was preceded in death by her parents, Rudy and Lois Vanover, 3 brothers, William David Vanover, James Louis (Robert) Vanover, Donald Eugene Vanover, 3 sisters, Mary Elizabeth Webster, Betty Joyce Edwards, Phyllis Anne Austin. Survivors include: 1 Daughter: Sharon Brown Palmatier (Robert) of Orange Park, FL Step-Daughters: Karen Phillips Delores Ashby (Toya) both of Owensboro, KY Step-Son: John Brent Phillips (Leigh) of Memphis, TN 1 Brother: Charles Edward Vanover 5 Sisters: Janie Marie West (Coleman) Eldean Whitledge (V.E.) Rosie Mae Lambdin (Charles) Margaret Louise Williams (Kenneth) Frances Irene Rone (Larry) Grandchildren: Kimberly Hipp, Robert James Palmatier, Jr. (Jillian), Caleb Brown Palmatier (Sayuri) Step-Grandchildren: Elizabeth Hedgspeth (Ben), Laura Linn (Scott), Lindsey Gibson, Kara Spencer (Brad), Taylor Phillips, Johnny B. Phillips, Jake Phillips 6 Great Grandchildren 6 Step Great Grandsons 2 Step- Great Granddaughters Relatives and friends are invited to Viney’s Life Celebration from 1:00- 4:00 PM on Sunday at Benton-Glunt Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held on Monday, September 19, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Henderson with Reverend Ben Hedspeth officiating. In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to St. Anthony’s Hospice.
