Mary Isabelle Horton

Mary Isabelle Horton, age 87, of Henderson, KY, passed away at 11:15 AM, Wednesday, August 13, 2014, at St. Anthony’s Hospice Lucy Smith King Care Center in Henderson, KY. Mary grew up out in the country on a family farm in Webster County. Her father farmed while her mother was a homemaker who also made quilts. Mary was one of five siblings. She left school in the 8th grade so she could go to work to help support her family. Mary started her working career at Bear Brand Hosiery, where she met the love of her life, Roy. They married on November 8th, 1958. Mary continued to work while raising her own family. She supported her husband Roy, brother Elroy, Nina and Toby Durbin when they formed a country music band. They traveled around performing on the weekends. Mary was a long time member at Immanuel Baptist Temple. She loved her church family. Mary liked going to yard sales, loved talking to people, very caring of her neighbors, and she never met a stranger. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Horton; infant son, Keith Horton; sister, Patsy Gibson; and brothers, Elroy, James, and John Raley. Survivors include: 3 Sons: Jimmy Dale Horton and wife Angela, Evansville, IN Ray Horton, Henderson, KY David R. Horton and wife Kerri, Henderson, KY 8 Grandchildren: Matthew Horton , Henderson, KY Maidra Horton, IL Tori Miles and husband Keith, NC Katie Mootz and husband Nick, AK Jake Bell and wife Cassie, Germany Megan Hobbs and husband Dean, Kendra Horton, Heather Hobbs and husband Qwin All of Henderson, KY 8 Great Grandchildren: Cooper, Chloe, Easton, Gage, Keith, Raegan, Cullen, and Morgan Relatives and friends are invited to Mary’s Life Celebration from 2:00 to 8:00 PM Friday and again on Saturday starting at 12:00 PM at Benton-Glunt Funeral Home, Henderson, KY. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, August 16, 2014 at the funeral home with the Reverend Ken Gazaway officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Henderson, KY.
