Juanita Bellew

Juanita Benham Bellew, 89, of Henderson, KY, went to be with the Lord on Sunday October 1, 2023, at her home under the care of St. Anthony’s Hospice. Juanita was a loving mother and grandmother who cherished family time. She loved attending her grandson’s sporting events, school and church functions as often as she could. She especially loved spending birthdays and holidays together laughing, playing games and cooking. She was a wonderful cook and loved making everyone’s favorite meals for their birthday celebrations. Family favorites were her fried chicken and angel food cake. Juanita worked many years as a bookkeeper making lasting friendships along the way. She was always one who was willing to lend a hand wherever needed and worked hard to get the job done. After her retirement, she loved to travel with her sister and husband on trips through the Gathering Place. Her favorite destination was her yearly family vacation to Daytona Beach Shores. In addition to traveling, she enjoyed bowling as a league bowler, participating in the local senior games and was an avid reader. Juanita was a faithful member of Immanuel Baptist Temple and Henderson’s First Baptist Church. She spent many years as a Sunday School teacher, teaching both youth and adult classes. Her caring heart lead her to be involved in many church outreach activities helping those in need. Juanita’s love for the Lord and her family was reflected through her service and dedication. Juanita was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Mabel Benham, husband, Thomas (Tommy) Bellew and sister, Dorothy Orr. She is survived by her daughters, Pam Bellew and Denise Cannon and her husband Bob, of Henderson, 3 grandchildren: Reid Cannon, of Bowling Green, Clay Cannon and Hayden Cannon, of Henderson, as well as many nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to Juanita’s Life Celebration from 3:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday and from 10:00 a.m. until the service time on Thursday at Benton-Glunt & Tapp Funeral Home. The funeral will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 5, 2023, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Henderson, KY.
