James Michael Greenwell

James Mike Greenwell, age 74, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his wife, children, and grandchildren on June 18, 2026, at 10:30 P.M. He was born on September 4, 1951, in Corsicana, TX. He was raised in Morganfield, KY where he met and married the love of his life. They then moved to Henderson, KY and began building a life together and welcomed 3 children. They were inseparable for 54 beautiful years. Mike was a hard worker, working at Gamco Products for 32 years. Mike attended Holy Name Church for 50 years. He was devoted in his faith and instilled that in all of his children. Mike enjoyed planting and growing a garden and shared his tomatoes with anyone he came in contact with. He enjoyed grilling, being outdoors, drinking Miller Lite longnecks, spending time with family, and playing cards. He taught his kids and grandkids how to play Uno, but remained the Uno champ throughout the years showing no mercy! Mike loved listening to Elvis, dancing and singing every word. He enjoyed time with his grandchildren, taking them to get milkshakes, McDonald’s, or anything they ever wanted. He spoiled his grandkids endlessly. Mike never met a stranger, he loved striking up conversations with everyone, anywhere he went, he had the best sense of humor and always had the biggest smile you have ever seen. What was even bigger than his smile was his heart. Mike would give you the shirt off his back or his last dollar if you needed it. Mike was a protector, provider, supporter, and biggest hugger of all! The void in our hearts will never be filled, Mike will forever be in our hearts and memories. Mike is proceeded in death by his parents: Frank and Marie Woodring, Donald Greenwell, and Evelyn Peters Greenwell; siblings: Larry Woodring, Roger Woodring, George Greenwell, Pat Pheil, Barbara Taylor, and Susan Woodring. Mike is survived by his wife of 54 years, Trina Greenwell; children: Shelly Moore (Floyd) of Henderson, KY, James Michael Greenwell II of Niagara, KY, and Kelly Luce (Josh) of Henderson, KY; sisters: Jayne James (Junnie), Janna Kay Sauer, and Kim Freudenberg; brothers: Bradley Jensen (Naomi), Bobby Greenwell (Joanne), Tim Grayson (Madelyn), and David Bohnenkamp (Holly); grandchildren: Kaylee Moore (Gavin), Jace Moore, Rebecca Luce, Cameron Luce (Chelsey), Ethan Luce, and Ashlee Greenwell (Trey); great-grandchild Hadley Michael Nelson; and great-granddaughter and great-grandson on the way. Relatives and friends are invited to Mike’s Life Celebration from 12:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Monday and again on Tuesday starting at 9:00 A.M. at Benton-Glunt & Tapp Funeral Home. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 P.M. on Tuesday, June, 23, 2026 at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church with Father Richard Meredith officiating. Burial will follow at St. Louis Cemetery in Henderson, KY.
