H. Glenn Howard

H. Glenn Howard, age 83, of Henderson, KY, passed away at 11:58 a.m., Wednesday, September 7, 2022, at Brickyard Woodland Nursing Facility in Evansville, IN. Glenn was born in Bluff City, KY, the youngest of 5 sons. He grew up working as a mechanic from the age of 13. He worked on vehicles until going to work with L&N Railroad at Howell Yard. For a short time, Glenn ran a shop for Claysville Contractors in Zanesville, OH servicing oil field equipment. Following that, he moved back to KY where he established and taught the diesel mechanic program at Daviess County Vocational School. Glenn was a master mechanic chief electrician with Mapco Coal at Retiki Mine for more than 20 years. He continued work in the coal industry for Custom Engineering as shop foreman. Glenn finished his career building the prep plant for Green Coal Company in Hebbardsville, KY. Glenn spent the next 20 years on his farm junking, fishing, flying his plane, racing his cars, and scuba diving. His final years were spent in Lorida, FL at Mossy Cove fish camp. There, he made many friends and was a member of the Limp Deck band. Glenn lived the life of his dreams and what made it perfect was sharing it with the love of his life, his sweetheart, Bonnie Ruth. In addition to his parents James Edward and Mary Agnes Peckenpaugh Howard, Glenn was preceded in death by grandsons Phillip Jackson Howard II and Joshua Scott Howard, and brothers: Jimmy, Raymond, Jerry, and Dean Howard. Glenn is survived by his wife of 64 years Bonnie Ruth Howard; sons: Eric Glenn Howard and his wife Robin, P.J. Howard and his wife Tammy, Bruce Howard and his wife Ruth, Paul Howard, and Scott Howard; grandchildren: Jessica, Benjamin, April, Camryn, Natalie, H.B., Michael, Iman, Malic, Helen, Christopher, Haleigh, Abbie, Kayla, and Sarah; and many great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to Glenn’s Life Celebration from 5:00 until 8:00 on Friday and again on Saturday starting at 9:00 a.m. at Benton-Glunt & Tapp Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 17, 2022, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Henderson, KY Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to any charity of your choice.
