Glynda Jane Blanford

Glynda Jane Blanford, age 74, passed away the morning of Tuesday, December 8th, 2015, at Cal- Turner Medical Center in Scottville, KY. She was born Friday, June 13th, 1941, to Henry Lloyd Sandefur and Anna Elizabeth Thompson Sandefur. Glynda graduated Henderson County High School, class of 1959. She was a retired bookkeeper and tax preparer. Glynda was of the Baptist Faith and attended Lawndale Baptist Church where she had made lifelong friends. Previously she had been a decades long member of Bellfield Baptist Church where she in her late husband, Jady, had married on March 31st, 1962. Glynda was passionate about genealogy and it became a regular hobby that she pursued with her granddaughter and sisters. She enjoyed working with numbers- her granddaughter, Brecca, introduced her to the Sudoku puzzle in the Gleaner to which Glynda actively worked every days puzzles for years. She enjoyed board games with her grandchildren, cooking with them for the holidays, gardening and watching Hallmark movies. She had been an avid bowler in her days, even having been in a league. Glynda was a very family – oriented and nothing made her day brighter than a phone call or visit from someone she loved. In addition to her parents, Glynda was preceded in death by her husband, James “Jady” Blanford, Sr. in 2015, and her son, James “Jay” Blanford, Jr. in 2014, her oldest sister, Carolyn Jackson, and two older brothers, Donald “Don” Sandefur and William “Buddy” Sandefur. Survivors include: Daughter: Tammy Mefford and her husband Jeff Henderson, KY 2 Sisters: Jeannie Easterday and her husband Larry Lafayette, TN Debbie Parker and her husband Dale Henderson, KY 4 Grandchildren: Britney Smith and her husband Andrew Newburgh, IN Mason Blanford Evansville, IN Brecca Mefford Henderson, KY Kamren Blanford Metropolis, IL 1 Great Grandson: Everett Smith Newburgh, IN Countless Cousins, Nieces and Nephews Relatives and friends are invited to Glynda’s Life Celebration from 4:00 -8:00 PM Thursday and again on Friday starting at 10:00 AM at Benton-Glunt Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, December 11, 2015 at the funeral home. Burial will follow at St. Louis Cemetery in Henderson, KY.
