Beverly Jane Johnson

Beverly Jane Johnson, age 75, of Henderson, KY, passed away on Sunday, August 6, 2023, at her home under the care of St. Anthony’s Hospice. After receiving her teaching degree from the University of Kentucky and her Master of Education from Murray State, Beverly taught typing and business English at Henderson Junior High School until retiring. In retirement she enjoyed spending her time reading many novels and watching classic Western movies. She lived with and cared for her mother. Beverly was a lifelong member of Immanuel Baptist Temple of Henderson and later Grace Point Church. She enjoyed serving as the librarian at IBT for several decades. Beverly had a natural sweetness about her that children gravitated towards. It was not uncommon to find her with 2 or 3 of her great nieces and nephews in her lap playing a game or reading a book. She is preceded in death by her father, Benjamin Lee Johnson. She is survived by her mother, Sarah Elizabeth Johnson of Henderson, KY; one sister, Dixie Brannon (Thomas) of Vestavia Hills, AL; and one brother Rick Johnson (Lee) of Paducah, KY. Although Beverly never had children of her own, she had four nephews: Benjamin Thomas Brannon (wife Anna and their children; Corbett Ann, Thomas, and Elizabeth) of Birmingham, AL; Patrick Brannon (wife Emily and their son Simon) of Birmingham, AL; Benjamin Lee Johnson (wife Molly and their children, Benjamin, Miles, and Nora) of Paducah, KY; and Kyle Johnson (wife Kelly and their children: Annalee, Ethan, Cora, and Wilder) of Paducah, KY; and one niece: Amanda Auxier (Daniel and their son Micah) of Midway, KY. She had a profound impact on each of their lives and will be greatly missed. Relatives and friends are invited to Beverly’s Life Celebration from 12:00 p.m. until the service time on Saturday, August 12, 2023, at Benton-Glunt & Tapp Funeral Home in Henderson, KY. The funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home with Reverend Eric Fannin officiating. Private burial will follow at Fairmont Cemetery in Henderson, KY.
