Anthony Hazelwood Anthony Hazelwood, age 81, of Henderson, KY, passed away at 6:40 AM, Monday, December 8, 2008, at home with his devoted family by his side. He was a very loving Husband, Father, Poppaw, Brother, and Friend. He will be sadly missed by all those who were blessed to have known him. He served in the U.S. Army from 1945 to 1947. He attended Murray State University where he met his beloved wife Ruth. They moved to Hebbardsville where he started Priest Hazelwood and Son later known as Hazex Construction Company in 1949 with one bulldozer. He retired in 1990 and became active in various community activities including: Friends of Audubon State Park, Operation Community Pride, Habitat for Humanity, Wendell Foster Center in Owensboro, Salvation Army, Riverview School, Hugh Edward Sandefur Center, American Cancer Society, American Heart Association, and enjoyed being a reader for Henderson County Elementary Schools. One of Anthony's loves, in addition to his family and friends, was woodworking, a hobby for which he became well-known. He was preceded in death by his parents, Priest and Honor Hazelwood, two brothers, Francis Priest Hazelwood and Bill Hazelwood. Left to honor his memory are: His Loving wife of 59 years: Ruth; 1 daughter: Ruth Ann Kirk and husband Jim of Alcoa, TN; 1 Son: Brad Hazelwood and Lois Wilson of Henderson, KY; Sisters: Mary Gregory of Henderson, KY, Betty Schenk and husband Dick of Conneticut; Grandchildren: Summer Guerreno and husband Cory, Joel Kirk and wife Wendy, Dana Riggs, Brittany and Logan Hazelwood; Great Grandchildren; Shannon, Gabbi, and Molly Guerreno, Jordyn and Jay Kirk, Kaylee Riggs and Lane Poole; in addition to many other family members and dear friends. Funeral Services will be conducted at 1:00 PM, Friday, December 12, 2008 at Benton-Glunt Funeral Home, Henderson, KY. Rev. John Conn will officiate. Burial will be in Fernwood Cemetery, Henderson, KY. Friends may call from 4:00 to 8:00 PM on Thursday and from 12:00 PM until service time on Friday at Benton-Glunt Funeral Home, Henderson, KY.
