Sherie Jane Mays

Sherie Jane Mays, age 64, of Henderson, KY, passed away at 4:54 p.m. on Sunday, July 17, 2022 at her home under the care of St. Anthony’s Hospice. Sherie was a loving and caring homemaker and a natural helper. To this day, when someone hurts, they just want mama to make it better. She enjoyed keeping busy volunteering at her children’s schools. Sherie had many hobbies; she was a great cook and a talented piano player. She also loved sports, especially UK basketball. Sherie was a tennis player in her younger years and played on a traveling league. She was a Kentucky Colonel. Being outdoors was Sherie’s happy place; from working on her 16-acre farm, landscaping, to naming the deer and the squirrels, she loved it all. Sherie’s family was her ultimate joy and getting to love on her grandkids was the icing on the cake. She was preceded in death by her father Gerald King, mother Nancy Jane Daugherty, and her step-father Clifford Daugherty. Sherie is survived by her husband of 48 years Randall Mays of Henderson, KY; daughter Tara Jane Woodall (Mike) of Madisonville, KY; son Michael Alan Mays of Henderson, KY; sister Debby Septer (Glenn) of Louisville, KY; half-sister Carolyn Cates (David) of Chicago, IL; grandchildren: Ella Grace Mays, Madilynn Kay Wethington, and Adriana Victoria Mays. Relatives and friends are invited to Sherie’s Life Celebration from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday and on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until the service at Benton-Glunt & Tapp Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 21, 2022 at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Henderson, KY. Pallbearers will be: Jeff Mays, Bruce Mays, Mike Woodall, Chris Pritchett, Judd Pritchett, and Glenn Septer.
