Raquel "Rachel" Saucedo Bard

Raquel “Rachel” Saucedo Bard, age 68, of Henderson, KY, passed away on Sunday, June 5, 2022 at Deaconess Midtown Hospital in Evansville, IN. Rachel was born in El Paso, Texas and her love for sports started when she was a cheerleader in High School. She loved all sports, but especially tennis, and was a huge fan of the Dallas Cowboys. Rachel loved the Lord and enjoyed almost 30 years of membership at Love Temple Church of God in Christ. She served the Lord in many capacities here: working with youth, secretary of Sunday School, decorating for events, and emceeing programs. To say she was talented with crafting would be a huge understatement. What she did as a hobby became a service that was requested by friends and family who saw her talent. Rachel was an amazing cook; any food she prepared delighted her family but none as much as her famous enchiladas. She was an incredibly strong woman and her abilities and resourcefulness amazed even her family. Rachel poured strength into her husband, children, and anyone in need. She gave of her time and her talents selflessly and had a high standard in her giving; no day-old bread or discount soda from her. To her family she was a jewel and a treasure and they take comfort knowing that she is in the presence of the Lord and can finally rest. She was preceded in death by her father Ernesto Saucedo, mother Ramona Duran, and brother Hector Saucedo. Rachel is survived by her husband of 44 years Cecil Lee Bard of Henderson, KY; daughter Jessica Barron and her husband Rod of Nesbit, MS; sons Jacob Bard and his fiancée Latisha Minor of Evansville, IN and Jeremiah Bard and his wife Jama of Newburgh, IN; sisters: Sylvia Prather of Wagoner, OK, Ellen Gary and her husband Peter of Monroe, NC, and Carol Kelley of Washington State; brothers: Ernesto Saucedo of Torrance, CA, David Saucedo of El Paso, TX, Michael Saucedo of Tacoma, WA, and Phillip Duran and his wife Beatrice of San Diego, CA; grandchildren: Kristeon Bard, Kaiden Bard, Kannen Bard, Aariyen Powell, and Kaleb Bard; as well as a host of nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to Rachel’s Life Celebration from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Monday and again on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the service time at Benton-Glunt & Tapp Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 14, 2022 at the funeral home with Reverend Harlan C. Armstead officiating. Remarks and memories may be shared during a time of remembrance on Monday at 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow on Tuesday at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Henderson, KY.
