Minnie Mitchell

November 1, 1929 - March 26, 2022

Minnie Mitchell, age 92, of Henderson, KY, passed away at 11:25 a.m., Saturday, March 26, 2022, at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh, IN. Minnie was a hard-working woman. She worked in childcare for many years, but most notably was a bookkeeper with the Henderson Gleaner and Scott Lumber Company. Minnie loved the Lord and was a member of Henderson’s First Baptist Church where she taught children’s Sunday school. She loved children and was a mother to not just her own kids, but their friends as well. Minnie was a strong woman and a caring mentor. She was a loving wife and mother. Minnie adored, and was adored in return by, her grandchildren and great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Earnest and Robbie Hurst, Minnie was preceded in death by brothers: Edward, Preston, and Quentin; sisters: Carolyn, Marie, and Jean; and grandson Tommy Todd. Minnie is survived by her loving husband of 73 years Virgil Mitchell; daughters Phyllis Mitchell (Jim Pendergraft) and Rebecca Mitchell both of Henderson, KY; siblings Nell Hurst and Willard Hurst both of Bethel Springs, TN; grandchildren Krystal Book (Michael) and Mitchell Corpe (Caitlin); great Grandchildren Sydney Book (Max Baker) and Brady Rhodes; and many nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to Minnie’s Life Celebration from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday and again on Wednesday starting at 12:00 p.m. until service time at Benton-Glunt & Tapp Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 30, 2022, at the funeral home with Reverend Alan Chamness officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Henderson, KY. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to American Diabetes Association, P.O.
