Martin Schaeffer I Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Martin Schaeffer I, age 66, of Henderson, KY, passed away on Saturday, July 30, 2022 at Deaconess Henderson Hospital. Martin retired after 21 years of service from the United States Army. He started a trucking company called M.K. Schaeffer & Sons Trucking and he also drove for JT Trucking. Most recently Martin worked as a deputy jailer for the Henderson County Detention Center. He was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Geneva Schaeffer, brother William “Bear” Schaeffer, and son Charles “CJ” Schaeffer. Martin is survived by his wife Brenda Onyett Schaeffer of Henderson, KY; 7 sons: Brian Onyett (Nancy) of Phoenix, AZ, Michael Kurtz (Dorinda) of Oklahoma City, OK, Shane Kurtz of Robards, KY, Scott Kurtz (Kristina) of Evansville, IN, Tony Kurtz (Colleen) of Alta Vista, KS, Martin Schaeffer II (Hazel) of Vero Beach, FL, and Johnathan Kurtz of Henderson, KY; daughter-in-law Michelle “Buffy” Schaeffer of Henderson, KY; sister Peggy Schaeffer; 2 brothers Greg Schaeffer and Lyndsey Schaeffer (Michelle); sister-in-law Tonya Dryhaupt; brother-in-law Charles Onyett; 3 aunts: Linda Faulkner, Jennetta Martin, and Annie Wagner; 20 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to Martin’s Life Celebration from 10:00 a.m. until the service time on Saturday, August 13, 2022 at Benton-Glunt & Tapp Funeral Home. The memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home with Minister Stacey Gilbert officiating. Inurnment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Henderson, KY.
