Marjorie Tapp

Marjorie Tapp, age 95, of Henderson, KY, passed away at 6:08 a.m. on Monday, September 20, 2021 at the Lucy Smith King Care Center under the care of St. Anthony’s Hospice. Marjorie was born in Olney, TX to James and Mary Reynolds. Never forgetting her Texas roots, Marjorie lived most of her life in Henderson and Webster County, KY. She graduated from Poole School. Marjorie married the love of her life, James W. Tapp in 1946 and together they raised two children. She a lifetime founding member of Hyland Baptist Church. She was an active member of Sunday School Class, choir, and TNT Senior Group. She was a member of the Henderson County Bend Gate Homemakers Club, Petroleum Wives, Rizpah Lady Shriner, and the Homemakers Chorus. Marjorie was a part of the local artist community and looked forward to her weekly painters group. She was an excellent hostess. Marjorie enjoyed cooking and opening her home to family and friends, especially for the holidays. In addition to her parents, Marjorie was preceded in death by her husband James W. Tapp, sister Evelyn Wallace, brother Herman Reynolds, and son-in-law Kirk Storey. She is survived by her daughters Terri Brown and her husband Ricky of Henderson, KY and Tammy Storey of Henderson, KY; brothers James “Red” Reynolds and his wife Ann of Elizabeth, PA and Clarence “Straw” Reynolds and his wife Betty of San Antonio, TX; 3 grandchildren: Joseph Storey, Heather Husk, and Jami Hall and her husband Tim; and 6 great-grandchildren: Allena Jo, Charlie, Ira, Ollie, Seph, and Cole. Relatives and friends are invited to Marjorie’s Life Celebration from 11:00 a.m. until the service time on Friday, September 24, 2021 at Benton-Glunt & Tapp Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home with Reverend Kenny Kidd officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Henderson, KY. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Hyland Baptist Church and St. Anthony’s Hospice.
