Jewell Elaine "Bootsie" Suggs Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Jewell Elaine "Bootsie" Suggs, age 74, of Henderson, KY, passed away at 9:02 a.m., Saturday, May 14th, 2022, at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh, IN. Jewell worked as a laborer for Alcan Aluminum for 15 years, then furthered her education at the University of Southern Indiana where she graduated with a Master’s degree in social work in 1996. She then worked at the DaVita Gardenside Dialysis Clinic as a social worker. During her retirement, Jewell loved flowers, traveling, camping, playing games, and spending time with her family. She was a member of Oakhill Baptist Church in Evansville, IN. She was preceded in death by her parents Sherman and Mary Scott, and her sister-in-law Linda Frasier Scott. Jewell is survived by her husband of 44 years, Edward Suggs of Henderson, KY; daughters Michelle Alderson (Tim) of Corydon, KY, and Melody Miller of Madisonville, KY; son Monte Taylor (Jennifer) of Henderson, KY; step-daughters Portia Johnson (Robert) of Morganfield, KY, and Sheila Suggs of Waverly, KY; step-son Craig Suggs of Henderson, KY; brothers Troy Scott of Sebree, KY and Mike Scott (Lola) of Henderson, KY; 15 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to Jewell’s Life Celebration from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, May 19th and again on Friday starting at 9:00 a.m. until service time at Benton-Glunt & Tapp Funeral Home in Henderson, KY. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 20th, 2022 at the funeral home with Reverend Alan Scott officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Henderson, KY.
