George W. Haag

George W. Haag, age 93, of Henderson, KY, passed away at 5:15am, Sunday, September 1, 2013, at the Western Kentucky Veteran’s Center in Hanson, KY. George W. Haag, son of John Adam and Agnes Haag, was born in Greentown, PA on August 15, 1920. He attended Rider University in Trenton, New Jersey earning his Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting. He served in the United States Army for three and a half years during WW II, including one year as a Lieutenant (Medical Administrative Officer) in Palm Springs and Menlo Park, CA. Thereafter, he lived in New Jersey and worked in New York City over a 30 year period where he was the Vice President of sales for the US Market for Swedish, Swiss and Israeli manufacturing organizations. He was also the regional manager for the Better Business Bureau. George was a member of First Baptist Church in Henderson, KY and enjoyed attending Bible study with The Silvertones and fellowship at the Men’s Breakfasts. He loved to travel and was blessed to enjoy many trips abroad. He joined the Rotary Club in Palm Springs, CA in 1985 and remained an active Rotarian after moving to Henderson. He felt it was important to keep up with the news and stayed tuned in to his favorite station, The Fox News Channel. In addition to his parents, George W. Haag is preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Madeline Haehl Haag, 2 sisters, Anna London and Ruth Lovrin, 2 brothers, Donald and Robert Haag, and a son-in-law, Timmy Walters. . Survivors include: Daughters: Madeline Walters, Corydon, KY Pamela Haag, Henderson, KY Cynthia Kaufer and husband Ed, Reno, NV Son: George Philip Haag and wife Patty, Huntsville, AL 8 Grandchildren: Alex Walters, Hannah and Paul Smith, Jamie and Steve Howard, Riva and Chris Rios, Cara and Matt Virden, Casha Kaufer, Eddie Kaufer and Marc Vis. 3 Great Grandchildren: Levi Smith, Kyson Rios and Chione Rios Nieces and Nephews Relatives and friends are invited to George W. Haag’s Life Celebration from 4:00-8:00, Tuesday, September 3 and again on Wednesday starting at 9:00am at Benton-Glunt Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday at the funeral home with Reverend Todd Linn, PhD officiating. Burial will follow at Corydon Cemetery. Military honors will be rendered by the American Legion Worsham Post #40. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Salvation Army or First Baptist Church.
