Frances Marie (Land) McGarrh- Fox

February 9, 2022

Frances Marie (Land) McGarrh- Fox passed away peacefully with family at her side on Wednesday, February 9, 2022. She was eagerly awaiting her opportunity to enter Heaven’s gates to be in the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and to be re-united with many of her precious loved ones who preceded her in death. Frances Marie was a consummate mother, homemaker, and Bible teacher/preacher who lived out her Christian faith in service to family and countless others. Frances was an excellent cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her family. She also held the title of Matriarch of the local family business- Bluegrass Transport & Expeditors in Henderson. By her prayers and devotion, the dream of her late husband, Doug McGarrh’s trucking business carries on to the 3rd generation. She was born to William Samuel Land and Lilly Lee (Beasley) Land in Marion, KY. She was one of 13 children. Her home was one that was filled with lots of love, chores, and fun. Over the years, she loved to entertain her children and grandchildren by sharing stories of her life growing up in rural Kentucky. The stories that she shared of the people in her life fascinated her family, as each person was more like a character out of the storybook of her life. At the age of 18, Frances Marie worked at her family's restaurant, where she met Cary Douglas (Doug) McGarrh. He worked up the courage to ask her out on a date- but there was one stipulation. If he wanted to go out on a date with her, he would have to drive up in a new car. Well, Doug didn’t disappoint. He showed up in a new car, and the rest was history as they became husband and wife in 1952 and enjoyed 58 years of marriage until Doug’s passing in 2010. They had 3 sons, William Cary (Cary) McGarrh, Ronald Wallace McGarrh and Barry Douglas McGarrh; and later enjoyed becoming a grandmother to 10 children and a great-grandmother to 9 children. In 2011, Frances Marie married Frank Fox. He credits her from years earlier in being instrumental in helping him form a relationship with Jesus Christ. They have enjoyed together politics, old shows and movies, and shopping. Today she is survived by her husband, Frank Fox, her three boys and their wives, her 10 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, along with her sole remaining sibling- her beloved sister Phyllis (Land) Green of Mayfield, KY, and many nieces and nephews that loved her so dearly. Relatives and friends are invited to Frances Marie’s Life Celebration from 11:00 a.m. until the service time on Wednesday, February 16, 2022, at Benton-Glunt & Tapp Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Henderson, KY. Arrangements entrusted to Benton-Glunt & Tapp Funeral Home, A Life Celebration® Home, online condolences may be made at www.bentongluntandtappfuneralhome.com.
