Etta Lee Jenkins

Etta Lee Jenkins, age 83, of Henderson, KY, passed away at 9:14PM, Thursday, December 7, 2017 at Lucy Smith King Care Center, under the care of St. Anthony’s Hospice, surrounded by her family In addition to her parents, Anthony and Etta Barron, Etta was preceded in death by her sisters Brenda Kay Ours and Christine Vaughn and brother Richard Barron. Etta retired from Gamco Products after 34 ½ years of employment. She was a founding member of the Central Church of Christ. She enjoyed traveling and some of her favorite destinations were the Smokey Mountains and New Smyrna Beach, Florida. Etta loved butterflies, snowmen and collecting music boxes. Her greatest love was her family and above all, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survivors include: Husband of 64 years, Francis Marion Jenkins 2 Daughters: Mary Beth Collins and her husband Mike, of Robards, KY and Robin Thomas and her husband John, of Henderson KY Brother: Thomas “Tommy” Barron, of Henderson, KY 4 Grandchildren: Steve Collins and his wife Fern, Gene Collins, Sara Carmen Steurer, and Dagan Collins 5 Great Grandchildren: Liam Collins, Katlynn “Kat” Collins, Caleb Collins, Aiden Collins, and Cooper Herring Relatives and friends are invited to Etta’s Life Celebration from 2:00-6:00PM, Sunday, December 10, and again on Monday starting at 9:00AM at Tapp Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00AM, Monday, December 11, at the funeral home with Virgil Hammontree officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Henderson, KY. Pallbearers will be: Dagan Collins, Steve Collins, Jobee Thrasher, Greg Atkins, Gene Collins, and Bill Goad. The family wishes to extend their sincerest gratitude to the doctors and nurses at Deaconess Hospital and the staff at St. Anthony’s Hospice for the extraordinary care Etta received during her illness.
