Dolores May Todd

Dolores May Adkins Todd, age 84, of Henderson, Kentucky passed away at 4:15PM, Thursday, November 23, 2017, at Methodist Hospital. Along with her parents, Clyde Sr. and Goldie Adkins, Dolores was preceded in death by her husband Obbie Todd and two brothers Clyde Adkins, Jr. and Donnie Adkins. Dolores’ husband, Obbie, was the first and greatest love of her life. They were married for 64 years. Her family gave her overwhelming joy. Dolores’ heritage was a source of pride; many men in her family have outstanding military and civil service accomplishments. Dolores was very patriotic and proud to be an American. In the late 1960’s-1970’s she was a Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star. She got her Masters Rank 1 degree later in life and taught 2nd and 3rd grades for 26 years. She taught at Holy Name, East Heights, and South Heights and was well loved by her students. Dolores and her husband, Obbie, owned Todd’s Airline Greenhouse. She loved working with plants and was a Master Gardner. Dolores was a life-long, active member of Bennett Memorial Church where her grandmother, Sally Davenport, was a charter member. Her walk in faith was important to her. As she grew as a wife and mother, she grew closer to the Lord. Dolores’ pride shown brightest on the days she saw her children get baptized. When the grandchildren came along, they became her whole world. They brought so much love and light into her life and she theirs. Dolores taught love by living it out daily, and the memories she made with her grandchildren will be her legacy. Survivors include: Daughter: Linda Todd-Ferguson and her husband Jim, of Henderson, KY 3 Sons: Timothy Todd and his wife Carrie, of Spring TX, Steve Todd and his wife Jennifer, of Pensacola, FL, and Obbie Dale Todd and his wife Trisha, of Owensboro, KY Sister: Joyce Owens, of Henderson, KY Brother: Jimmy Adkins, of Bonita Spring, FL 10 Grandchildren: Josh Todd, Jacob Todd, Obbie Tyler Todd, Grant Todd, Sarah Todd Simmons, Maggie Ferguson Henderson, Joseph Todd, Hannah Ferguson, Max Ferguson and Jack Ferguson. 14 Great Grandchildren Nieces and Nephews Relatives and friends are invited to Dolores’ Life Celebration from 4:00-8:00PM, Tuesday, November 28, 2017 and again on Wednesday starting at 9:00AM at Tapp Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be conducted at 10:00AM, Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at the funeral home with Obbie’s two grandsons, Rev. Obbie Tyler Todd and Rev Jacob Todd, along with Pastor Wayne Burt officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Henderson, Kentucky.
