Brenda Speith

Brenda Speith , age 78 , of Morton’s Gap, KY, formerly of Henderson, KY, passed away at 1:02 p.m. on Thursday, November 25, 2021, at her home surrounded by the love of her family. Brenda was a beloved caregiver, constant teacher, talented fixer, and matriarch of her home. She worked in production at Atlantis Plastics for many years. She was the heart of her family. When she spoke, it wasn’t to tell something, it was to teach. When something was in need of mending, she was ready with her needle and thread. When children needed loving and nurturing, her home was open. Brenda was regularly active in Henderson’s First Baptist Church preschool Sunday school and VBS. She faithfully served the Lord in her life inside and outside the church and the fruits of her faith are evident in the legacy she leaves behind. In addition to her parents, Martin and Anna-Mae Tompkins, Brenda was preceded in death by her husband John Speith; children: Bobby Shelton, JD Shelton, & Denise Shelton; grandson Daniel Witherspoon; and granddaughter-in-law Ashley Cluchie. Brenda is survived by daughters Teresa Witherspoon and her husband Danny of Nortonville, KY and Debbie Ballard of Morton’s Gap, KY; son Dennis Shelton of Madisonville, KY; step-daughters Sheila Lloyd of Sebree, KY and Cindy Miller and her husband John of Hanson, KY; sister Rose Stone of Henderson, KY; brother John Tompkins of Henderson, KY; grandchildren: Chrissy Sprague (Jim), Jessie Baldwin (Turkey), Nikki Tabor (Jon), Aaron Nally (Kim), Curtis Nally (Dacca), Jeffery Shelton, Jr. (Brittany), Whitney Miller, Tony Cluchie, and Danielle Higgs; 22 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. Also surviving Brenda are the granddaughters of her heart Natalee Travis and Aimee Travis and their mother Wendy Travis. Last, but certainly not least, her beloved dog King Louie. Relatives and friends are invited to Brenda’s Life Celebration from 10:00 a.m. until service time on Wednesday, December 1, 2021, at Benton-Glunt & Tapp Funeral Home in Henderson, KY. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Henderson, KY.
