William Donald "Don" Johnston

William Donald “Don” Johnston, age 85, of Henderson, KY, passed away at 2:00 AM, Tuesday, January 2, 2018 comfortably at his home. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse Lee “Operator” and Mary Elizabeth Johnston, 2 sons, William Christopher Johnston, Herman Justin Johnston, daughter, Mary Elizabeth Johnston, and 2 brothers, Jesse Lee Johnston, Jr., and Larry Joe Johnston. Don was a member of Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church. He graduated from Holy Name High School in 1951. He was a United States Army Veteran. Don spent his entire life as an entrepreneur. He was owner and operator of Pittsburg Tank and Tower and was in the tank business for over 60 years. He loved people and was always one to give everyone a second chance. He treasured the pictures of his family that hung on the walls of his home and office. Don was an avid fly fisherman. In addition to his immediate family, he leaves behind his Pittsburg Tank and Tower family. Survivors include: 1 Daughter: Janie Dowell and her husband Ken of New Albany, IN 2 Sons: Donald Anthony “Johnny” Johnston and his wife Kathy of Henderson, KY Benjamin David “Ben” Johnston and his wife Denise of Henderson, KY Special Nephew: Jesse Johnston III and his wife Teresia of Henderson, KY 9 Grandchildren: Nicholas Thomas, Katelyn Barnes, Christian Dowell, Justin Johnston, Brandon Johnston, Devin Johnston, Chris Johnston, Levi Johnston and Joshua Johnston 4 Great Grandchildren: Carson Thomas, Olivia Thomas, Charlie Johnston and Asa Johnston Nieces and Nephews Relatives and friends are invited to Don’s Life Celebration from 2:00- 8:00 PM Thursday at Benton-Glunt Funeral Home and again on Friday from 10:00- 11:30 AM at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Ted Temple and Father Anthony Shonis at 12:00 PM, Friday, January 5, 2018 at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church. Burial will follow in St. Louis Cemetery. A rosary service will be held at 6:00 PM on Thursday at the funeral home.
