Truman A. Newman

Truman A. Newman, age 90, of Henderson, KY, passed away at 3:30 AM, Saturday, October 26, 2013, at Twin Rivers Rehab and Nursing Home in Owensboro, KY. Truman Newman was born in 1923 to parents Harry and Lola Reeder Newman. He was one of seven siblings. In 1942 he married Elizabeth Boswell and together they had one child. They moved into the family homestead in Hebbardsville in 1952 and lived there ever since. Truman farmed the land that had been in the family for several generations raising corn and livestock. He was a good provider for his family. Their marriage was truly an example of what marriage should be. Truman was a member of Bethel Baptist Church for over 60 years and was a deacon for more than 40 of those years. He was recognized for his service in the church in 2008. Truman’s greatest love was horses and he owned many throughout his lifetime. Prince was the horse that he especially loved. He truly enjoyed his John Deere Tractors that his family members gave his as gifts throughout the years. He made so many people laugh with his wonderful sense of humor. He loved kids; and spending time with his granddaughters and his great grandchildren gave him so much joy. A favorite pastime was spending his time at home sharing stories with them. Truman was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Elizabeth Boswell Newman in 2007, 3 sisters: Annie Laura Wood, Francele Griffin and Hazel Pleasant and 2 brothers: Lockett Newman and Harry C. Newman. Survivors include: Son: Donald A. Newman, Henderson, KY 1 Sister: Martha Walker, Henderson, KY 2 Granddaughters: Amy Newman Perkins and husband Mike, Frankfort, KY and Farrah Newman Corbett and husband Michael, Owensboro, KY 3 Great Grandchildren: Reagan Perkins, Truman James Perkins and Lleyton Corbett Nieces and Nephews Relatives and friends are invited to Truman Newman’s Life Celebration from 3:00-8:00 PM Monday, October 28, and again on Tuesday starting at 9:00 AM at Benton-Glunt Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday at the funeral home with Reverend Russell Wood officiating. Burial will follow at Fairmont Cemetery in Henderson, KY.
