Thomas McLaughlin

Thomas McLaughlin, age 94, of Corydon, KY, passed away at 2:50 p.m. on Monday, January 20, 2025, at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh, IN. Thomas was a rancher for many years. He loved cattle, horses, and hogs. He raised many big gardens and was always eager to share his vegetables with his family. Thomas was a hard-working man and had no use for idle hands. In midlife he went to work in the coal mines. He retired in 1992 after 20 years of hard work. Thomas had a large family and raised kids, grandkids, and even great grandkids. He loved little kids more than anything. His favorite name to be called was “Grandpa”. Thomas was a good provider for his family. He enjoyed family and friends coming over big barbeques and cookouts. He was preceded in death by his parents Pet and Daisy McLaughlin, daughter Linda Meredith- McLaughlin, son Chris Fox, sisters: Velma Nobles, Lilly Steelman, Ruby Steelman, and Opal Owens, brothers: Paul McLaughlin, Watson McLaughlin, and Carl McLaughlin and one grandson. Thomas is survived by his wife Lydia McLaughlin; daughters Brenda Hockenberry (Steve) and Rhonda Gatewood; sons: Tommy McLaughlin (Sandra), Rick McLaughlin, Tim McLaughlin, Robert McLaughlin (Amber), Steven McLaughlin, Randy McLaughlin, and Walter E. Fox (Melissa); sister Rose Chaney; 23 grandchildren, and a host of great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to Thomas’ Life Celebration from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday and from 9:00 a.m. until the service time on Friday at Benton-Glunt & Tapp Funeral Home in Henderson, KY. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 24, 2025, at the funeral home with Reverend Jeff Hensley officiating. Burial will follow at Corydon Cemetery in Corydon, KY. Military honors will be rendered by the American Legion Worsham Post #40. Pallbearers will be Bradley Conrad, Tim Conrad, Robert McLaughlin, Randy McLaughlin, Hayden Fox, and Walter Fox.
