Robert C. Kessinger I, age 75 and ¾ years old, of Robards, KY, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loved ones on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, under the care of St. Anthony’s Hospice. Robert was born in Benton Harbor, MI on the 27th of May 1949 to the late Raymond and Elizabeth (Mae) Kessinger of Ohio Co., KY. He was a hard worker and a previous member of the Jerusalem Lodge #9. He graduated from Owensboro Vocational Technical School in 1991 with a degree in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration all while raising six children. Robert worked and retired from Henderson County School Systems Maintenance Department after 15 years. He had a musical ear and music was his passion. He loved fixing and tinkering with guitars just as much as playing them. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Robert will be fondly remembered playing his guitar at every back yard get together, birthdays, and graduations. Robert’s true impact lives on in the life lessons taught by his example of strength, perseverance, love, and most of all kindness. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Patricia Kessinger, his son Robert Kessinger II, and his brothers Orville and Edwin Kessinger. He is cherished by his children: Kenneth R. Kessinger of Evansville, IN, Nathan Kessinger (Christine) of Henderson, KY, Sylvia Mercer (Greg) of Robards, KY, Misty Mobley (Steve) of Dallas, NC, and Sonya Kessinger of Newburgh, IN; grandchildren: Kaitlynn Kessinger, Phorest Birch, Seth Birch, Ryen Birch, and Brooklyn Buchanan; great-grandchildren Alex and Avalon Birch. It is not goodbye; it’s “See you later kid.” Relatives and friends are invited to Robert’s Life Celebration from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. on Monday, March 24, 2025, at Benton-Glunt & Tapp Funeral Home in Henderson, KY. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday at Render Memorial Cemetery in McHenry, KY with his family officiating. Burial to follow.
