Ralph William "Bill" Preston

Ralph William “Bill” Preston, age 80, of Smith Mills, KY, passed away at 2:51 PM, Monday, June 5, 2017, at St. Vincent Hospital in Evansville, IN. Bill was a 1955 graduate of Enfield High School in Illinois. He currently worked as a salesman at Bradford Supply Company. He retired from LTV formerly Continental Emsco Company in 1996. Bill was a member of Belleview United Methodist Church, The American Legion Worsham Post #40, Moose Lodge, Smith Mills Lions Club, Smith Mills Fire Department, Corydon Masonic Lodge #799, and the Amvets. He spent a lot of time on his boat at Lake Barkley fishing. He owned a pontoon that he enjoyed with his family. Whether he was riding his golf cart with his wife, his cat Blackie, and grandchildren, playing poker, tossing washers, or mowing the yard, Bill loved his home in Smith Mills. He was always eager to serve and help others. He served in the United States Marine Reserves for 7 years. Most of all, Bill loved his family. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Gertrude Preston, 2 brothers, Jack and Bob Preston, grandchildren, Anthony William Preston and Preston Grace Vandiver. Survivors include: Wife of 55 years: Audrey “Jo” Preston of Smith Mills, KY 1 Son: Scott Preston and companion Pam of Geneva, KY 2 Daughters: Diane Moore and husband Bruce of Dixon, KY Deanna Vandiver and husband Brian of Cairo, KY 2 Brothers: Charlie Preston of Carmi, IL Donnie Preston of Benton, IL 8 Grandchildren: Bryan Moore and wife Crystal, Shane Moore and wife Amber, Jacob Moore and wife Katie, Matthew Preston and wife Lauren, Haley Preston, Abby Vandiver, Alyssa Vandiver and Parker Vandiver 8 Great Grandchildren and 1 Great Grandchild due in September Nieces and Nephews Relatives and friends are invited to Bill’s Life Celebration from 4:00-8:00 PM Thursday and again on Friday starting at 9:00 AM at Benton-Glunt Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, June 9, 2017 at the funeral home with Reverend Steve Hale officiating. Burial will follow at Smith Mills Cemetery in Smith Mills, KY. Masonic Service will be held at 6:00PM Thursday by Corydon Masonic Lodge #799.
