Phyllis Ann Fritts Hinton

Phyllis Ann Fritts Hinton, age 63, of Henderson, KY, passed away on Tuesday, March 12, 2024, at her home. Phyllis was born April 17, 1960, in Gary, IN the daughter of the late, Leon Fritts and Barbara Fraley Fritts who survives her. She had been an LPN at nursing homes for over 33 years and started her career in Northern Indiana before moving to Henderson, KY, working across the river in Evansville, IN at the Brickyard Healthcare nursing homes. She loved her job and the residents that she took care of. For the past few years, she worked with Alzheimer’s patients. It takes a special person to work in that area and Phyllis was just the right person for the job. It was hard work but was very fulfilling for her. We loved listening to her stories about some of the escapades of the residents. To know Phyllis was to love her. She was very outgoing, never shy, and ready for a new adventure at the drop of a hat. She took over the job as designated driver from her Mom after she moved down to Henderson and with her Mom, they would pick up her Aunts, Amy and Iva, to go yard selling, antiquing or whatever activity the mood or the weather picked. They called themselves the Golden Girls: Phyllis was Dorothy, Barbara was Sophia, Amy was Blanche, and Iva was Rose. We will miss her smile, her sense of humor, her outgoing personality, and her love of each and every one of us. In addition to her father, Curtis “Leon” Fritts, Phyllis was preceded in death by her longtime best friend, Penny McFadden. She is survived by her son Herschel Scott Hinton, Jr. (Kara) of Henderson, KY; mother Barbara Ann Fritts; siblings: Curtis Fritts (Debbie) of DeMotte, IN, Robert Fritts (Janet) of Mooresville, NC, Edward Fritts of Birmingham, AL, Karen Fritts of Henderson, KY and David Fritts (Karen) of Valparaiso, IN; grandchildren, Aiden, Adrian, Ember and Jace; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She is also survived by her aunts, Amy Fraley Mitchell and Iva Fraley Griffin both of Henderson, KY, and her beloved cat Lena. As per her wishes, Phyllis will be cremated, and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
