Paul Howard Stone

Paul Howard Stone, age 74, of Spottsville, KY, passed away at 12:45 p.m. on Monday, November 15, 2021 at his home. He was born January 29, 1947 near Sebree, Kentucky to Elmer and Carthy (Wilson) Stone Paul served proudly in the United Stated Army as a member of the 101st Airborne Paratroopers Division at Ft. Campbell, KY and the 82nd Airborne Division at Ft. Bragg, NC during the Vietnam War gaining the rank of Buck Sargent in his first 18 months of service. He worked for the Boilermakers National Transit Union at CB&I Services for over 30 years as a boilermaker (welder and safety supervisor) working all over the United States. After retirement at age 55, Paul and his wife both became beekeepers and owned and operated Stone Hill Honey and Produce. He charted the Audubon Bee School in Henderson in 2005 and was President of the KY State Beekeepers Association in 2012. Paul and family, known as Southern Basics, were a BBQ team in the Taste of Henderson activities at the W C Handy Blues Festival for years. He was instrumental in the development of the Farmers Market Pavilion in Henderson where they were producers from 2008 through 2019. In 2004 he and his daughter, Treva, traveled to South Africa on a beekeeper’s tour for 2 weeks. He was a member of the American Legion Worsham Post #40. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Dorothy Arthur and Sue White, and brother Tommy Stone. Paul is survived by his wife of 55 years Betsy (Roy) Stone of Spottsville, KY; daughters Charlotte Baumgartner and her husband David of Niagara, KY and Treva Walker and her husband Doug of Wayland, NY; son Waylon Stone of Zion, KY; sister Carol “Lynnie” Sparks of Morganfield, KY; brothers Dorris Stone and his wife Ernestine of Spottsville, KY and Larry Stone and his wife Rita of Nebo, KY; 6 grandchildren: Clint Baumgartner, Clay Baumgartner and his wife Whitley, Nick Lindsey, Mallorie Stone, Pearl Walker, and Orion Walker, one Aunt, Betty Stone, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and countless friends who all loved his sense of humor with a quick joke for every occasion. Relatives and friends are invited to Paul’s Life Celebration from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday and again on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until the service time at Benton-Glunt & Tapp Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, November 19, 2021 at the funeral home with Clint Baumgartner and Anita Croft officiating. Burial will follow at Fairmont Cemetery in Henderson, KY. with Military honors rendered by the American Legion Worsham Post #40. Pallbearers will be Clay Baumgartner, Nick Lindsey, Lynn Roy, John Roy, Randy Roy, and Keith Stone.
