Patricia R. "Trish" Gibson

Patricia R. “Trish” Gibson, age 58, of Henderson, KY, passed away at 11:52 p.m., Sunday, August 10, 2025. Trish devoted her life to caring for people with special needs. Her career spanned decades working with both Hugh E. Sandefur Training Facility and River Valley Behavioral Health. She was always available to offer good advice, reassure, and encourage anyone in need. Trish loved dogs and, a few years ago, lost her beloved family dog, Cindy Lou. She always talked about seeing her again and the family takes comfort knowing they are together now. Trish always knew the “tea”, even before it was spilled! She liked sharing the “tea” too and is remembered for her “Southern Goodbyes”; always having more to talk about after saying good-bye. She loved to travel and always enjoyed experiencing new places and things. One of her most favorite places to travel to was the beach at Gulf Shores, Alabama and she said it brought her a lot of joy and comfort being there. More than anything, Trish treasured her family and the time they spent making memories; especially as the grandchildren came along and she earned the name “meme”. Trish was preceded in death by her mother Violet Courtney and her aunt Martha Turley. Trish is survived by her daughters Tasha Gibson and Macy Goodley (Shawna Brown) both of Henderson, KY; father Marion “Buddy” Courtney of Smith Mills, KY; sisters Martha Ann Hargrove of Henderson, KY and Rhonda Messamore of Evansville, IN; brothers Les Courtney and Charlie Courtney both of Smith Mills, KY; cousin Christie Turley of Henderson, KY; grandchildren: Regan, Eden, Camden, Lincoln, Ryker, Colyns, and Brodie; many nieces and nephews; and finally her beloved grand-dogs: Izzy, Quincy, and Bailey. Relatives and friends are invited to Trish’s Life Celebration from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 16, 2025 at Benton-Glunt & Tapp Funeral Home in Henderson, KY.
