Myra Gail Berrong Grimes, 75, a beloved sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully at home under the care of St. Anthony’s Hospice on Friday, September 11th, 2026, surrounded by family. Born April 18, 1951, she attended Cairo Elementary and Henderson County High School. Gail was truly a remarkable woman; kind, loving, trusting, humble, and full of genuine compassion. She had a gentle spirit and a heart that always made room for others. She never sought recognition for the love she gave; she simply loved people because that was who she was. Gail’s faith in God was at the center of her life. A faithful member of Community Baptist Church, she loved her church family and found great joy being active in the church choir. Gail’s faith was not only something she spoke about; but how she lived through the way she treated others with kindness and love. Above all, Gail treasured her family. She was a source of encouragement and unconditional love. Gail loved to travel and explore the world with the Lambert family. She cherished the holidays and special celebrations she spent with her sisters, nieces, and their families. The memories she created will forever hold a special place in all of our hearts. Anyone who knew Gail knew her love for the Henderson County Colonels and the Kentucky Wildcats. You could always catch her and Poncho cheering on the Colonels, proudly sporting their Maroon and White. Gail also enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, including spending time watching the Game Show Network. Gail leaves behind a beautiful legacy of faith, kindness, and love. Though she will be deeply missed, we take comfort in knowing that she is now at peace and resting in the presence of the Lord reunited with Ricky and her mother, Anna. Gail is survived by two sisters Martha Boucherie (Johnny) of Spottsville, KY and Audrey Berrong of Henderson, KY; nieces Dedra Griffin (Cliff) and Brandy Boucherie (Charles) both of Henderson, KY; great-nieces and nephews: Emma Mayes, Memphis Mayes, Christian Mayes, Olivia Bell, Claira Bell, and Violet Pullum; as well as a long list of cousins and close friends who were like family. Gail was preceded in death by her older sister Suzann Berrong, mother Anna Reynolds Nasbitt, father James W. Berrong, stepfather Robert “Bob” Reynolds, stepfather George Nasbitt, and her lifelong partner and best friend, Ricky “Poncho” Lambert. Relatives and friends are invited to Gail’s Life Celebration from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday and again on Wednesday starting at 9:00 a.m. at Benton-Glunt & Tapp Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, at the funeral home with Reverend Lauren McDuffie officiating. Burial will follow at Fairmont Cemetery in Henderson, KY.
