Mr. Thomas Wayne "Bug" Culver

Mr. Thomas Wayne “Bug” Culver transitioned from his earthly life to his heavenly life on Wednesday, December 13, 2023, at 2:00 a.m. at the Lucy Smith King Care Center under the care of St. Anthony’s Hospice. His last few days were spent with his family by his side. Thomas was a devoted husband, daddy, pappaw, brother and Uncle Bug. Family and his faith always came first. He never met a stranger and was always willing to lend a helping hand. He was known as the “Blanket Man”. He made over 2000 blankets that he gave to family, friends, and those who were sick or anyone in need. Each blanket was stitched with love, thought, and care for the recipient. Thomas’ favorite job was a miner for the Peabody Coal Company Camp 2 until its closing. He also enjoyed farm work throughout his life and retired from Whirlpool. He is preceded in death by his wife Melanie Janie Carter Culver, parents James “Chip” and Margaret Lucille Moore Culver, sisters Agnes Coney and Mary Miles, and brother-in-law Mike Johnson. Thomas is survived by his 5 children: Margaret (David) Driskill of Grand Rivers, KY, John (Heather) Culver of Paris, TN, Dr. Tommie Ann Culver Saragas of Columbia, Fortuna (Ryan) Noel of Plainfield, IN, and Francis (Larry) Hohman of Henderson, KY. Francis had been his right-hand gal for the past 5 years. From numerous trips for treatments and doctor’s visits she never failed to be there. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren: Sarrah (TJ), Dylan (Kayla), Amanda (Jeb), Jennifer (Ian), Brock (Sarah), Ty (Taylor), Cheyenne, Andi (Tanner), Payton, Adrian (Sarah), Gabe, John Paul, Jacob, Addison, and Brayden; 12 great-grandchildren: Maggi, Landon, Anthony, Noah, Peyton, Sheaira, Carter, Rowan, Melanie Jane, Oliver, Sawyer, and Lyra; brothers: Arnold (Dorothy) Culver, James (Barbara) Culver, and Wade (Day) Culver; sisters Patricia (Jerry) Norvell and Janice Johnson; and several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to Thomas’ Life Celebration from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Friday and from 9:00 a.m. until the service time on Saturday at Benton-Glunt & Tapp Funeral Home in Henderson, KY. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 16, 2023, at the funeral home with Dr. Tommie Ann Culver Saragas officiating.
