Maynard Glunt

Maynard Vaughn Glunt, age 82, of Henderson, KY passed away Friday, March 30, 2007 at his home in Henderson, KY. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Paula Jean Glunt in 1950, his parents: Benjamin S. and Vella D. Glunt, 3 brothers: Mavis, Marvin and Milton Glunt and a son in law, Dr. Wayne Liles. He graduated from Weaverton High School in 1942 and began his career at Otis A. Benton Funeral Home the same year at the age of 18. He attended Mortuary Science School in Louisville and graduated from KY School of Embalming in 1946. Mr. Glunt served in the US Navy during WWII in the South Pacific. He graduated from the US Naval Hospital Corps School. Later, he acquired the Springfield Funeral Home in Sebree, KY. In 1962, he and other investors purchased Benton Funeral Home at 17 South Main St. Mr. Glunt changed the name of the business to Benton-Glunt Funeral Home in 1970. In 1974, Glunt purchased property at 629 S. Green St. that formerly was the Interstate Glass House Restaurant. After extensive remodeling, he relocated the funeral home there in 1975. Mr. Glunt was a member of First Baptist Church, he was a 32nd Degree Mason, and a member of Scottish Rites, the Elks # 206, Bailey-Onton Lodge # 538 in Sebree, KY, Grand Lodge of Kentucky, Woodmen of the World, Toastmasters Club, Henderson Rotary, American Legion Worsham Post #40, Oddfellows; he was a Ky Colonel and a member of the Kentucky Funeral Directors Association and the Western KY Funeral Directors Association. Glunt & her Henderson, KY Companion Robin 2 Sisters: Loreen Glunt Henderson, KY Maxine Vaughn De Bary, FL 1 Brother: Myron N. Glunt Henderson, KY 2 Grandchildren: C. Neil Kellen II & his wife Amber Henderson, KY Andrea G. Long Myrtle Beach, SC 3 Great Grandchildren: Trevor Kellen Henderson, KY Mason Kellen Henderson, KY Jaylynn Kellen Henderson, KY Nieces & Nephews Great Nieces & Nephews Funeral Services will be conducted Thursday, April 5, 2007 at 2:00 PM at Benton-Glunt Funeral Home. Reverend Todd Linn will officiate. Interment will be at Fairmont Cemetery in Henderson, KY. Friends may call from 3:00-8:00 PM Tuesday April 3, 2007 and 3:00-8:00 PM Wednesday April 4, 2007 and 10:00 AM until service time Thursday at Benton-Glunt Funeral Home.
