Malcolm "Mike" Haire, Sr.

Malcolm “Mike” Haire, Sr., age 75, of Henderson, KY, passed away at 11:52 am, July 1, 2023, at Henderson Nursing and Rehabilitation. Mike was a man of many trades. He worked for Scott Lumber Company for 20 years, then worked for Pittsburgh Tank and Tower for more than 30 years. He put in many long hours after work and on weekends painting barn roofs, grain bins, and whatever else he was called to do. On Saturday morning, his work on Earth was finished as God called him home to spend eternity in Heaven with his Lord and Savior. His work hours were endless as was his love and loyalty to his family while on Earth. He would do anything he could, including giving the shirt off of his back, for those that he loved. In his spare time, he enjoyed camping on the river with his family, watching UK basketball, hunting and fishing. There are no words to express how much he will be missed. In addition to his parents, David and Francis “Aunt Tom” Haire, Mike was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 50 years, Barbara Haire; twin sister, Rebecca “Becky” Beals; brothers: Don Haire, Earl “Whop” Haire, and Merle “Tamie” Haire; and grandson in law, Nick Payne. He is survived by daughters: Lea Meredith (Phillip), Kathy Morrow (Carroll), and Sandra Dawson, all of Reed, KY; sons: Mike Haire, Jr. (Debbie) of Reed, KY, David James Haire (Shania) of Reed, KY, Brandon Dawson (Meghan) of Evansville, IN, and Paul Dawson (Catherine) of North Carolina; sisters: Wanda Mattingly of Henderson, KY, Janice Beals (Richard) of Henderson, KY, and Kora Foster of Owensboro, KY; brothers: Bobby Haire (Joan) of Reed, KY, Steve Haire (Rita) of Reed, KY, Hugh Haire (Stacy) of Henderson, KY, and Tony Haire (Debbie) of Robards, KY; aunt, Susie Bugg of Henderson, KY; 12 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to Mike’s Life Celebration from 4:00 until 8:00 pm, Wednesday, July 5, 2023, and again on Thursday starting at 9:00 am until time of the service at Benton-Glunt & Tapp Funeral Home in Henderson, KY. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday at the funeral home with Reverend Don Haire, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Reed, KY.
