Joyce Lee Owens

Joyce Lee Owens, 97, of Henderson, Kentucky, peacefully passed into the hands of the Lord on Sunday, July 16, 2023, at the Lucy King Center under the care of St. Anthony’s Hospice in Henderson, Kentucky. Joyce was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a loyal friend and faithful charter member of Chapel Hill Church. She operated the Owens’ Lamp shop (the Lamp Lady) in Downtown Henderson and co-owned Owens’ Electric with her husband W.D. Owens Jr. for 30 years. She enjoyed travelling to many countries with her husband and friends as a member of the Friendship Force. She was the last surviving member of the Birthday, Supper and Bridge Club, which covered 60 years. Joyce loved her dogs, birds, trees and flowers. She was a longstanding member of the Audubon Society. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde Elbert Adkins and Goldie Davenport Adkins, her husband W.D. Owens Jr. of 73 years, her brother Clyde Adkins Jr., her sister Delores Todd, her brother Donnie Adkins, and her grandsons Ryan and Wesley Owens. She is survived by son Randy Owens (Marla), daughter Marsha Mullins (Morris), son Dennis Owens (Becky) all of Henderson, KY; brother Jimmy Adkins of Logan, UT; grandchildren: Paul Owens (Lori), Whitney Smith (Daniel), Patrick Adamson (Allison), Denise Newman (Jason), Cassie Owens (Dale Downs); great grandchildren: Ethan & Emma Owens, Morgan & Owen Smith, Nadia & Knox Adamson, Jacob & Ava Newman, Orion Owens and Laney & London Owens; numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers for Joyce are Paul Owens, Patrick Adamson, Obbie Todd, Mark Biggs, Terry Adkins and Kenny Adkins. Visitation will be at Benton- Glunt & Tapp Funeral Home on Thursday July 20th from 4PM to 8PM and Friday from 9AM until the services time. Funeral service will be held at 10AM on Friday at the funeral home with Reverend Mike Snyder officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Henderson, KY.
