Joe Nathan Middleton

Joe N. Middleton Jr., age 94, of Henderson, Ky, passed away at 6:14 a.m., Wednesday, May 29, 2024, at Lucy Smith King Care Center under the care of St. Anthony’s Hospice. After high school Joe followed in his grandfather and father’s footsteps by working in the oil field industry. He retired from Ashland Oil, Inc. after 44 years as superintendent in the tri-state region. He was a long-standing member of the Ashland Retirees Club in Ashland, KY and was a member of First Christian Church in Evansville, IN. Joe was a very hard worker and particular about his task. He took pride in a job well done. He was an avid sportsman when he was younger excelling in baseball and bowling, a love he later shared with his family. Joe was preceded in death by his parents Joe and Delia Middleton, his wife Betty Jane Middleton, sister Rosalie Zobrist and brothers Victor Middleton, Earl Middleton and Robert Middleton. He is survived by his children Marilyn Watson (Ronald) of Henderson, KY; Nancy Keach (Randy) of Liberty Township, OH; Patti Connaway (Marc) of Chandler, IN; Wayne Middleton (Cindy) of Covington, Louisiana; siblings Ann Maran of Highland, IL; Ralph Middleton of Edwardsville, IL; 5 grandchildren Joel Watson (Megan), Jacob Keach (Ashley) Brian Connaway, Allen Middleton, Kevin Middleton; 3 step grandchildren Kelly Buchanan (Nick), Jamie Rodriguez, and Kristina Govert (Chad); 12 great-grandchildren, 9 step great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to Joe’s Life Celebration from 2:00-7:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 2, 2024, and again from 9:00 a.m. until service time on Monday at Benton-Glunt & Tapp Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Matt Silen officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Henderson, KY.
