Douglas Ray “Doug” Pollick, age 73, of Henderson, KY, passed away at 12:20 p.m. on Sunday, October 20, 2024, at Cypress Grove Rehabilitation Center in Newburgh, IN. Doug was a lifelong resident of Henderson, KY, and other than a tour in Vietnam, where he served his country proudly as a United States Marine, it was in Henderson, among most of his family and friends, that he had his roots and felt most at home. Doug worked hard all his life - whether it was manufacturing line work, installing tile flooring alongside his brother Butch, or working his garden, Doug always believed in the value of hard work and appreciated the sense of satisfaction that came after a job well done. When work didn’t call, but the river did, Doug could be found somewhere along the bank of the Ohio with a bucket of shad and fishing rod in hand – his love of fishing was unquestionable, but what he enjoyed most was the time this gave him with his son, brother & family. Doug was blessed with a large extended family and enjoyed many weekends cooking outside for them, pitching horseshoes, and visiting with his kin. Rain or shine, good fishing or bad, ringer or leaner, it was these stories, made along the way with his family, that were some of his most favorite memories, and to his last, he always liked to reminisce about the many ‘good old days’ he’d had with those he loved. Doug was preceded in death by his mother Geraldine VanHooser-Cardwell and brothers Paul “Butch” Pollick and John “John John” Cardwell. Doug is survived by his son and daughter-in-law Jason and Dawn Pollick of Wallis, TX; sister and brother-in-law Jacqueline “Jacquie” and Harold Nunnelly of Henderson, KY; sister and brother-in-law Linda and Jonathan Williams of Henderson, KY; brother Gary Cardwell; grandchildren: Jackson and Cambell Pollick; nieces and nephews: Jessica, Stacy, Theresa, Kimberly, Harold Jr., and Vancent; and many great-nieces and great-nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to Doug’s Life Celebration from 12:00 p.m. until the service time on Saturday, November 9, 2024, at Benton-Glunt & Tapp Funeral Home in Henderson, KY.
