Dorothy Louise McCollum

Dorothy Louise McCollum, age 89, of Corydon, KY, passed away on Monday, January 8, 2024, at her home. Dorothy was a woman who loved the Lord. She was a faithful member of Countryview Baptist Church. She was a prayer warrior and was well loved by her church family. Dorothy worked at the Hosiery Mill until they closed. She then worked at the Sureway deli until her retirement. In her leisure time, Dorothy enjoyed bird watching, working puzzles, and playing games. She was known for her sense of humor and making people laugh. She was talented with a needle and thread and made beautiful quilts. Dorothy will be remembered as a loving mother, true friend and encourager. Above all else, she was a woman who fiercely loved her family. Her children, grand, great, and great-great grandchildren were her greatest treasure on earth. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents Hamner and Myrtle Robbins, husband Charles “Leroy” McCollum, son Donald “Donnie” McCollum, and brothers Raymond Lee Robbins and Bobby Wayne Robbins. Dorothy is survived by her daughters: Sandi Gail Mays and her husband Bobby of Corydon, KY, Lisa Ann Ervin and her husband Jeff of Corydon, KY, and Patty Ann Davis of Crown Point, IN; sons Roy Allen McCollum and his wife Cindy of Henderson, KY and Danny Wayne McCollum of Henderson, KY; sisters: Carlean Black of Mayfield, KY, Becky Robbins of Edmond, OK and Margaret Cook of Gantt, AL; grandchildren: Amber Shimek, Ben McCollum, Kenneth McCollum, Shannin McCollum, Dania Givens, Mandi Mays, Brandi Mays Austin, and Cory Mays; 19 great-grandchildren, 8 great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to Dorothy’s Life Celebration from 3:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday at Benton-Glunt & Tapp Funeral Home and from 9:00 a.m. until the service time on Friday at Countryview Baptist Church. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 12, 2024, at Countryview Baptist Church, 2067 Gregory Drive, Henderson, KY with Reverend Randy Duncan and Reverend Gary Ashby officiating.
