Donald A. Newman

Donald A. Newman, age 69, of Henderson, KY, passed away at 3:09pm, Friday, January 13, 2017, at his homestead on the farm he loved. Donald was born and raised in Hebbardsville, KY. He grew up in a rural farming community working and learning alongside his father, Truman, on the family farm. He made his family proud by being the first to attend college, graduating from University of Kentucky with his Bachelor’s degree and then from Western Kentucky University with his Master’s degree. Donald would tell anyone that the 1970’s were the best years of his life; it is the decade that he became a father to Amy and Farrah. Donald was a salesman in the field of agriculture and committed over 20 years to Supersweet Feeds both locally and across the country. Donald had a degree in history and loved traveling to see all the things he studied in the classroom. Every year, he and his close friend, Doug Mays, would take a trip to see and experience new places. Donald’s faith was important to him. He grew up attending Bethel Baptist Church in Hebbardsville. His membership there was consistent and he served in many capacities: deacon, Sunday school teacher and finance record keeper to name a few. There were many things that Donald enjoyed spending his time doing. He enjoyed cheering on the Kansas City Chiefs and UK basketball. He loved his John Deere tractors and being on the farm and around all the livestock and crops he tended. His friendships were of great value to him. Above all else, Donald took great pride in raising his daughters and cherishing the women they became. Leaving a legacy for his grandchildren was a goal that he absolutely achieved. They will continue to treasure his memory as the years go by. In addition to his parents, Truman and Elizabeth Newman, Donald was preceded in death by his daughter, Amy Newman Perkins. Survivors include: Daughter: Farrah Newman Corbett and husband Michael of Evansville, IN Son in Law: Michael Perkins of Frankfort, KY 3 Grandchildren: Reagan Perkins, Truman James Perkins and Lleyton Corbett Relatives and friends are invited to Donald’s Life Celebration from 4:00-6:00pm on Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at Benton-Glunt Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 10:00am on Wednesday at the funeral home with Reverend Russell Wood officiating.
