Carson Ray Springer

Carson Ray Springer, 88 years young, of Henderson, KY passed away peacefully on a beautiful and sunny Sunday morning, at 6:39 AM June 28, 2015, at the Lucy Smith King Care Center, under the care of St. Anthony’s Hospice, with family at his side. He was born May 30, 1927 to Loda Buren and Mabel Katherine Springer in Bearden, AR. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran serving in WWII on the U.S.S. General R E Callan AP 139 and also in Korea. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion, V.F.W. and a Masonic Lodge member for over 60 years. He graduated from Weaverton High School and Lockyear Business College. Carson was a faithful church member, devoted Deacon, greeter and Sunday school teacher at First Baptist Church in Henderson, KY. He was a loan officer and manager at Morris Plan and general manager at Cooke Chevrolet for several years and retired as Supervisor at Bristol-Myers. He loved Kentucky Wildcat Basketball. Carson was an extremely loving and compassionate husband, father, grandfather, and provider extraordinaire. He was passionate about God, his family, Henderson First Baptist Church, Old Glory, and the USA as well as landscaping, gardening, carpentry, architecture, history, travelling, cooking, big band music and the Ohio River. He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 sister, Billie Richardson, his precious daughter Stacy Lynn Denton, and infant granddaughter Natalie Nicole Denton, 3 sister-in-law, Connie Leslie, Geraldine Culver, Micky Gorman, 2 brother-in-law, Clinton Slaughter, and Tooter Leslie. Survivors include: His lifetime love, high school sweet heart and wife of 68 years: Dorothy Louise Springer Henderson, KY 1 Daughter: Cathy Springer Kappes Chandler, AZ 1 Granddaughter: Courtney Leigh Katherine Kappes New Orleans, LA Faithful Family Friend: Mary Buchanan Henderson, KY 3 Brother-In-Law: Manual Slaughter (Louise) Henderson, KY R.J. Slaughter (Celeste) Tulare, CA Donnie Slaughter (Judy) Henderson, KY 1 Sister In Law: Ann Martin and her husband Skip Henderson, KY Many beloved nieces and nephews Relatives and Friends are invited to Carson’s Life Celebration from 10:00 AM until service time on Thursday, July 2, 2015 at First Baptist Church. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM with the Rev. Todd A. Linn, PhD officiating. Entombment will follow at Fairmont Cemetery Mausoleum, Henderson, KY. Full Military Honors will be rendered by The American Legion Post #40. Carson Ray never met a stranger and his gentle soul and loving ways will be greatly missed.
