Wilma B. Henry Glick

Wilma B. Henry Glick, 103, passed peacefully in the early morning of November 3rd. Born on February 5, 1919 in Vandalia, Illinois, she was raised by loving parents, Shella and Hubert Henry. She grew up on a farm alongside five siblings. On Christmas Eve in 1936, she met the love of her life, Gloyd “Squatty” Glick. He proposed one week later on New Years Eve and on February 28, 1937 they became husband and wife. They were married for 71 years before he passed away. Together, they built a legacy that will live on forever. They had three children, twelve grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. Following her passions, she graduated at the top of her class and became a beautician for many years. She was proud to have been a part of iconic local salons and a beauty supply store. Even at the age of 103, beauty was still important to her. She took pride in her appearance and always had the perfect accessories, a classic outfit, and perfectly styled hair. She was the matriarch of all matriarchs. The hostess with the mostest. Her and Squatty loved square dancing, spending time at the lake on their pontoon, gardening, and playing cards. Wilma was a social butterfly. She frequented the Gathering Place and enjoyed spending time with her Pleasant Pointe family. Wilma was a lover of holidays, traditions, and anything that meant spending time with family. She frequently volunteered to babysit and enjoyed every second of it. She regularly visited her family in Illinois. Even into her nineties, she would pack up the car with her dog Jobi and drive herself for extended visits. She started many traditions that endure today and will be passed on to generations to come. She loved cooking for others and sharing her recipes, which her family still uses today. Wilma cherished her relationship with the Lord and was a lifelong member of Immanuel Baptist Temple. Following the closing of IBT, she attended Chapel Hill United Methodist Church. Upon her passing, it was revealed that notes and other keepsakes were tucked into her bible, forming a scrapbook of her life. Mimi, as she was lovingly referred to by most of her family, will be greatly missed by all who were lucky to know her. Wilma is preceded in death by her parents, Shella and Hubert Henry, husband Gloyd “Squatty” Glick, sons, Richard “Dickie” (Arthella) Glick and Robert “Bob” (Carol) Glick, siblings Huberta (Ed) Nichols, Ruby (Clay) Roberts, Shirley (Bill) Brown, Neil (Chris) Henry, Kenneth (Fern) Henry, and nieces and nephews, Kevin Marcum, Viola Sears, and Barbara Lucas. Wilma is survived by her daughter Linda Sue (Hubert) Collins, grandchildren Brian (Lisa) Glick, Brad (Linda) Glick, Craig (Janet) Glick, Missy (Mark) Neighbors, Robby (Sondra) Glick, Steve Glick, Stephanie “Punky” (Eric) Hagan, Jon (Jessie) Albright, Keri (Rex) Harper, Trish (Nick) Wallmark, Ian (Rob) Glick, and Sean Gray. Relatives and friends are invited to Wilma’s Life Celebration from 11:00 a.m. until the service time on Saturday, November 5, 2022, at Benton-Glunt & Tapp Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home with Brian Glick and Reverend Mike Snyder officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Henderson, KY.
