Sharon A. Ganno

Sharon A. Ganno, age 73, of Henderson, KY, passed away at 10.27 p.m. on Friday, February 25, 2022, under the care of St. Anthony’s Hospice at the Lucy Smith King Care Center in Henderson, KY. Sharon worked in the Henderson County Detention Center for more than 17 years before transitioning to the Henderson County Courthouse where she worked for 10 years before retiring. She was instrumental in assisting judges in her tenure with the court system and was an exemplary employee. Sharon was a Kentucky Colonel and a member of the Fraternal Order of Police. She loved traveling; going on family camping trips when the children were young to traveling the county next to her husband on their motorcycles, Sharon loved the journey. Her most treasured time was that spent with her family. Sharon cherished the moments spent at family gatherings whether it was a big family reunion or just dinner with the family on a Sunday afternoon. She was a daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and those relationships were most precious. In addition to her parents, R.T. and Wanda Smith, Sharon was preceded in death by her first husband Calvin F. Harris and sisters Brenda Griffin and Kathy Bentley. Sharon is survived by her husband of 41 years Thomas Ganno; children: Penny Marruquin (Eddie), Candy Sandefur (Wayne), Jamie Harris (Josey), Tony Ganno all of Henderson, KY, Danette Thomas (Bren) of San Clemente, CA, Cindy Beasley of Flint, MI, and Terri Cornwell (Tim) of Denton, TX; sisters: Darlene Cummings (Darrell), Laura Spencer, and Sheila Basham (Richard) all of Henderson County, KY; 16 grandchildren; many great grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews; and last but certainly not least, her beloved cat Thomas Moon. Relatives and friends are invited to Sharon’s Life Celebration from 1:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday and from 10:00 a.m. until the service time on Wednesday at Benton-Glunt & Tapp Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 2, 2022, at the funeral home with Reverend Jeff Burke officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Henderson, KY.
