Michael Ellis Hope

Michael Ellis Hope, age 69, of Henderson, KY, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at 2:58 a.m. Tuesday, October 11, 2022, at his home under the care of St. Anthony’s Hospice. Mike worked as a foreman from 1985 until 2009 at Accuride Corporation. Mike and his wife Lisa enjoyed traveling with their family. One of his favorite trips was driving out west and visiting Yellowstone National Park. He loved all things water and visiting the cold springs in the mountains. Mike was a huge Chicago Bears football and UK basketball fan. He was a trivial pursuit king and loved old western movies. Mike was honest, hardworking, and full of life. His presence would light up a room when he entered. “Poppy” especially loved his grandchildren whether attending their sporting events, going to Disney World, watching movies, or fishing; he made each grandchild feel special. Mike was preceded in death by his father Thermon Hope, mother Carolyn Frasier, sister Barbara Rector and her husband David, and his infant sons Zachary and Travis Hope. He is survived by his wife of 32 years Lisa Smithhart Hope of Henderson, KY; daughters Lindsay Nelson and her husband Daniel of Robards, KY and Rachel Hall and her husband Mike of Louisville, KY; sons Scott Hope and his wife Michelle of Henderson, KY and Mike Pace and his wife Melisa of Henderson, KY; 7 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to Mike’s Life Celebration from 3:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday and from 9:00 a.m. until the service time on Friday at Benton-Glunt & Tapp Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, October 14, 2022, at the funeral home with Reverend Bret Eblen officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Henderson, KY.
