Kenneth E. "Gene" Scott

Kenneth E. “Gene” Scott, age 86, of Owensboro, KY, passed away at 2:30 AM, Friday, February 12,2016, at his home. Kenneth was a member of Beals Pentecostal Church in Beals, KY for over 60 years. His favorite past time was wood working. Furniture and toys for the kids were among his favorite crafts. Some of the families prized possessions were the toy boxes, tug boats and tractors he made. Years ago he was a ferry captain at Rangers Landing. He was also a diesel mechanic at Whayne Supply where he repaired heavy equipment. Kenneth retired from Brown Badgett Mining as a mining supervisor. Throughout the years he enjoyed hunting his rabbit dogs and fishing on Lake Barkley, the Ohio River or any lake or pond he could find. Most recently he served as a greeter for Wal-Mart. He was a Christian man who loved the Lord but exuded goodness to everyone he met. He was a gentle, soft spoken and wise man. Above all else, Kenneth loved his family and grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Lydia Scott and several siblings. Survivors include: Wife of 63 years: Betty Scott Owensboro, KY 3 Daughters: Connie Sights and husband Elward Robards, KY Kathy Brown Bloomington, IN Genia Page and husband Bruce Ferdinand, IN 4 Sisters: Wanda Wilson Henderson, KY Louise White Vickie Hallman Shirley Bullington All of Evansville, IN 3 Brothers: Don Scott Ray Scott Bobby Scott All of Henderson, KY 6 Grandchildren: Kimberly Christian, Katrina White, Kendra Creamer, Jonathan Reynolds, Staff Sgt. Garland K. Page, Katelin Wallace 11 Great Grandchildren: Jack Simpson, Joshua Christian, Lila White, Margaret White, Harrison Creamer, Samuel Creamer, Alec Thomas, Rylee Thomas, Aidyn Page, Jaxon Wallace, Kenneth Reynolds Nieces and Nephews Relatives and friends are invited to Kenneth’s Life Celebration from 1:00- 8:00 PM Monday and again on Tuesday starting at 9:00 AM at Benton-Glunt Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, February 16, 2016, at the funeral home with the Reverend Barry Skaggs officiating. Entombment will follow in the Roselawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, Henderson, KY.
