Jane Marie Jenkins

Jane Marie Jenkins, age 80, of Henderson, KY, passed away at 1:06 PM, Sunday, May 3, 2015 at her home under the care of St. Anthony’s Hospice. Jane was born December 17, 1934 in Deatsville, KY to Freeman and Marguerite Jenkins. She suffered from brain injuries at birth and should have not lived, but with the love and care of her family and mostly her own determination and enormous will to live, she proved the doctors wrong. While her body grew, her childlike playfulness stayed with her forever. She attended First Christian Church in Owensboro. Jane was a huge Elvis Presley fan and even called him her boyfriend, which made her real boyfriends very jealous. She loved all things Christmas and her favorite colors were red and green. Jane was under the care of River Valley Behavioral Health and she absolutely thrived. She loved her classes and the socialization skills she received there. This is where she learned and fell in love with beading. She made her own jewelry, even after she was blind. Jane loved to accessorize with hats, rings, bracelets and necklaces. Family time brought such joy to her life. She loved holidays, especially hunting and rehunting Easter eggs. Jane loved chocolate candy and milkshakes. Hershey’s candy bar with almonds was her favorite. She also had fun riding her three wheel bike and sitting in her yard swing. Jane was a perpetual playmate for all generations. She was always God’s child. Survivors include: 2 Sisters: Joyce Beard Tacoma, WA Jennie Ellis Henderson, KY 8 Nieces and Nephews Many Great Nieces and Nephews Housemates: LaQuita and Missy Caregivers: Stacey, Mandy, Jennifer Former Caregiver: Sandra “Harlean” Bullock Relatives and friends are invited to Jane’s life Celebration from 10:00-7:00 PM, Thursday, May 7, 2015 and again on Friday, May 8, starting at 10:00 AM at Tapp Funeral Home, Henderson, KY. The funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday at the funeral home with Reverend Jason Davis officiating. Burial will follow at Oddfellows Cemetery in Boxville, KY.
