Iona McCormick

Iona McCormick, age 86, of Henderson, KY, passed away at 12:57 AM, Sunday, January 14, 2018, at Stonecrest Medical Center in Smyrna, TN. Iona was employed by the Henderson County School System for 18 years as a custodian at South Middle School. The students and faculty there adored her. She worked hard and having her own home was a great achievement and source of pride for her. Iona’s faith was monumental in her life. She was a member of Audubon Baptist Church, now known as Grace Point Church, where she attended regularly. She loved listening to all of her gospel favorites, and watching her gospel DVD’s. Iona’s greatest treasure was her family. She gave her all to provide a loving home for her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and the many children she babysat throughout the years. In addition to her parents, Elmer and Eula Overfield, Iona was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore R. “Buck” McCormick and 2 brothers, Oscar Overfield and Elmer Overfield, Jr. Survivors include: 5 Daughters: Linda Wolf and her husband Bill of Henderson, KY Brenda Cobb and her husband Joe of Henderson, KY Barbara Hazelrigg and her husband Donald of Corydon, KY Diane Hutcheson and her husband David of Lavergne, TN Roxie Grissett and her husband Keith of Lavergne, TN 2 Sons: Herbert “Bubby” McCormick and his wife Gloria of Henderson, KY Kenneth Skaggs and his wife Linda of Henderson, KY Sister: Lois White and her husband Jim of St. Louis, MO 13 Grandchildren Several Great Grandchildren Several Great Great Grandchildren Nieces and Nephews Relatives and friends are invited to Iona’s Life Celebration from 3:00- 8:00 PM Wednesday and again on Thursday from 11:00 AM until the service time at Benton-Glunt Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, January 18, 2018 at the funeral home with Reverend Jack Ross officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Henderson.
