Gary Richmond

Gary Richmond, age 75, of Henderson, KY, passed away at 10:52 p.m., Friday, January 22, 2021, at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh, IN. Gary was a compassionate and kind man and friend to all. He loved and served the Lord and was a faithful member of Victory Christian Center. Gary shared God’s word with the multitude as a member of The Gideons International. Most will remember Gary for his devoted service in the Henderson County School System as custodian and caretaker at Bend-Gate Elementary School. He was a lifetime member of the National Education Association and the Kentucky Education Association. For many years, Gary’s compassion was extended to grieving families with his excellent service at both Benton-Glunt Funeral Home & Tapp Funeral Home, now merged as Benton-Glunt & Tapp Funeral Home. Gary was an outdoor enthusiast. Camping, fishing, and hunting with his family made up a huge part of his life. Gary was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather; his family meant the world to him. Gary was a wonderful man and will be missed greatly. In addition to his parents, James and Lorell Richmond, Gary was preceded in death by first wife Linda Richmond and brothers Bud Richmond and James Robert Richmond. Gary is survived by his wife Barbara Ann “Pat” Richmond; daughter Teresa Oakley (Joey); sons Gary Richmond, Jr. (Chris) and Andy Richmond (Tiffany); sisters: Nellie Vowels, Sue Kinkade, and Reeda Courtney; brother Donald Richmond; 5 grandchildren: Chelsey, Trevor, YaYa, Zoe, and Jaiden; 5 great-grandchildren: Brayden, Mikah, Jordan, Whitley, and Emmy; nieces & nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to Gary’s Life Celebration from 10:00 a.m. until service time on Friday, January 29, 2021, at Victory Christian Center. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. at the church with Reverend Jack Ross officiating. Burial will follow at Fairmont Cemetery in Henderson, KY. Face masks must be worn in the church for the duration of the visitation and service.
