Dorothy Beatrice Carr

Dorothy Beatrice Carr, age 83, of Henderson, KY, passed away at 10:24 p.m., Tuesday, August 7, 2018, at Lucy Smith King Care Center under the care of St. Anthony’s Hospice. In addition to her parents, John and Sammie Tooley, Bea was preceded in death by her son, Kenneth E. Carr, all her siblings: Lois Tooley, Helen Wise, Margie Fields, Ruthell Tooley, Mary Hocker, Johnie Simmons, James Tooley, and J.L. Tooley, and a great-grandson, Christopher John Carr. Bea proudly served her country as an Air Force housewife for the 22 years her husband was in service. She was president of the NCO Wive’s Club at Naha Air Force base in Okinawa. Bea was a loving and patient mother; the glue that held the family together. She had a passion for children and housed a daycare for 14 years. She was an active member of Airline Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and sang in the choir. Year after year, you could find Bea leading crafts at vacation bible school. She was a talented seamstress and left a legacy for her family in her needlework. Bea loved her community and gave of her time volunteering at St. Anthony’s Hospice, The Answer Center, and Marsha’s Place. Survivors include: Her husband of 65 years, Bobby Carr. 2 Sons: Michael Ray Carr and his wife Anita, John Daniel Carr and his wife Tammy 1 Daughter: Alisha Dale Carr 4 Grandchildren: Tina Carr, John Carr, Steve Carr, and James Emerson A host of Nieces and Nephews Relatives and friends are invited to Bea’s Life Celebration from 2:00-5:00 p.m., Sunday and again on Monday starting at 9:00 a.m. at Benton-Glunt Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, August 13, 2018 at the funeral home with Reverend Nathan Whisnant officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Cemetery, in Muhlenberg County, KY. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to St. Anthony’s Hospice, 2410 S.
